Make plans to join the FPA of Illinois in Springfield for our 2020 Advocacy Day with meet with Illinois Legislators, Regulators and officials from the Treasurer's Office

As in years' past, the Financial Planning Association of Illinois plans to go to Springfield this spring. We will meet with our state Legislators, Regulators and other interested parties to check-in and discuss how FPA of Illinois can serve as a resource to our elected officials, regulators, and residents of Illinois.

Previous meetings have been very productive and we have established ourselves as a "go-to resource" for our friends in Springfield. These trips allow FPA of Illinois to advance the profession on behalf of our members through issues that directly impact our day-to-day business.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to help shape policy and let your voice be heard. Even if you have never participated before, we make it easy for you! FPA of Illinois provides you with all the materials you need to discuss the issues that are important to you.

What does this involve?

  • Being in Springfield on Wednesday, March 4th to meet with legislators. There will be an early breakfast training session.
  • Reviewing material developed by FPA National.
  • Participating in a training webinar with FPA National Advocacy Director, Karen Nystrom.
  • Meeting with your legislators to share what the FPA is all about (participants will visit legislators in groups, so no one is alone).  The meetings are usually held between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.

FPA National will take care of scheduling all the meetings and providing training, materials, and badges as well as folders to give to your elected officials.

For those who will travel to Springfield from the Chicago area the night before, there are several hotel options available.  At this time, it seem that the best option close to the Capital offices is the Wyndham Springfield City Centre - You will be responsible for the price of the room and your transportation.
