Join former award-winning investigative reporter Andy Knott for a fast-paced, engaging tour of the CFP Board’s current learning objectives. Andy, rated repeatedly as a five star instructor, introduces a rowdy range of ethical challenges from free-lunch seminars,  yield-starved senior investors, dementia, advisor “educational” trips, robos and uncooperative clients.

 

This session will cover required Ethics CE for CFP and IL Insurance.

Andy Knott is a former Pulitzer Prize nominee and Cook County prosecutor who currently serves as a Portfolio Manager for Wintrust Wealth Management. He focuses on giving independent investment and planning advice to North Shore residents who are concerned about preservation of wealth. Working with a select group of clients, Andy is known as a teacher. He takes great pride in helping people identify their strengths and weaknesses and motivating them to protect their assets. He has completed the Investment Consultant Program at the renowned Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Andy works with clients in areas such as portfolio management, investment and retirement planning, concentrated equity positions, stock options, and estate-related issues.

 

As an award-winning investigative reporter for the Chicago Tribune, his work was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize twice (1981 & 1983). Admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1986, he was a prosecutor in Cook County (Chicago) before becoming an M&A expert in Australia and New Zealand where his experiences were the subject of a Harvard Business School case study.

 

Andy holds a BS from the University of Tennessee, a J.D. from John Marshall Law School, and an MBA from Duke University. He serves on the Board of Visitors at the School of Communications at UT-Knoxville and previously was a member of the vestry of the Church of the Holy Comforter in Kenilworth, Illinois. learning the three elements necessary in our profession. I attended the Ethics course at the DePaul O’Hare location yesterday.  Andy Knott was completely entertaining, engaging, and personable!  Andy holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 Licenses in addition to Life, Health, and Variable Annuities Insurance Licenses. He regularly teaches Continuing Education classes in Professional Responsibility/Ethics to CFP® certificants and Illinois insurance agents.
